music
Music plays a key role
in setting the mood through out Red Garden. The soundtrack (by Senju
Akira) is comprised primarily of haunting melodies that manage to draw out
both the beautiful and the grotesque in every scene. Special insert songs
sung by KOKIA are also important elements of the first story arc, with the
characters singing these tracks loud to themselves. Melodic soliloquies, if
you will. When these aspects are combined, the Red Garden soundtrack
makes for very powerful listening. There are a several tracks from the series
that link directly to Lula which have been archived here for your enjoyment.
from red garden
• Rock The LM.C by
LM.C; First ending theme. Lula loves this song and "SUMS" (the
fictional group formed by the male cast who perform it.) Watch her throw that
water bottle like a hardcore fan!
• Katsu ~ Mabara na Hikari
by KOKIA; Episode two insert song. Although performed by KOKIA on the
sountrack, in the episodes these inserts songs are sung by the heroines. This
is the only track in which Lula performs, and she only sings one line- "To
love yourself and know honour...".
• Miete Kuru Mono he
by Senju Akira; The music that plays during Lula's introductory scene
in episode one. You know, the one where she's all "LOL U DEDD".

I'm a member of The Fan Soundtrack Community on Livejournal and for the April '07 free choice month, I decided to make a single (four tracks in length) dedicated to Lula. I believe I expressed at the time that I "...wanted to convey how utterly badass Lula is without forgetting that she's a depressive corpse". I'm not entirely sure if I accomplished that but I did manage to shove together some decent songs. Check them out below.
• Jeronimo - J'ai Peur
Des Americains
Roosevelt Island's resident immortals aren't exactly your ma, pa and apple
pie types.
• Valeze - Search and
Destroy
"Somebodys' got to save my soul, baby detonate for me"
• Kind Of Girl - You
Can't Save Me
There's no happy ending when you're already dead. Sry.
• Goldfrapp - Slippage
Lula treads that very fine line between alive and dead, human and monster,
sexy and "dude, don't even think about it she's a hideous trailer trash
cadaver".
