Red Garden is an anime and manga series created by Gonzo (in conjunction
with Trinet Entertainment), which was released during the latter half of 2006.
The anime series ran for 22 television broadcast episodes, while the manga
is still ongoing in Birz magazine (with three collected volumes published
to date). A sequel to the animated series entitled Dead Girls arrived
on DVD in August of 2007. Red Garden has a distinct visual style
to reflect its American setting, with the employment of the largely American
technique of recording voices before animating adding to the richness of the
title. Red Garden is a beautiful mix of tragedy, deceit and the horrific
unknown. The anime series has been licensed for distribution in the US by
ADV Films.
Kate, Rachel, Claire and Rose are four girls with little in common aside from the school they attend on Roosevelt Island and a mutual friend named Lise. When Lise is suddenly found murdered the four girls are overcome with grief. But efore they have time to mourn, a mysterious woman reveals a terrifying reality to them- on the night Lise died, they too met their deaths. Now the heroines live "borrowed" lives and must fight creatures that appear at the stroke of midnight if they want to continue living. What really happened to them on the night they lost Lise? Moreover, why do they have to fight the lycanthropic beasts that appear wherever red butterflies lead them?
This dedication focuses on Lula, the woman who revives the girls and guides them to their future. She is awesome.
