Lula is voiced by the talented Japanese voice actress, Tanaka Rie.
Voices play an incredibly important role in Red Garden, more so than
in a lot of other anime series because of the order in which voice recording
and animation were done. Traditional anime series are dubbed over by seiyuu,
who have to fit their lines into specifically animated segments. Red Garden
however, borrowed its recording order from foreign animation staples- the
actors would record their lines, then the show would be animated to fit with
their vocal work. This adds to the heightened sense of drama and to the overall
acting quality in the series. Tanaka Rie uses a mature and distanced voice
to bring Lula to life, giving the character a quality that is quite far removed
from many of her past roles.

Tanaka Rie is well known for being a seiyuu who is passionate about her roles.
She adores Suigintou from the Rozen Maiden series (whom she voices)
and often blogs about the Rozen Maiden merchandise she has added
to her collection. She has also cosplayed as Suigintou on more than one occasion
and enjoys portraying her roles in a positive light. Tanaka-san also owns
several pets, one of which is a cat she suggests knows how to play her PS2.
When she appears casually, Tanaka-san poses with her fingers in a "double-V"
sign.
The first thing Tanaka-san noticed when she saw Lula were her lips (!) but after learning more about the character, she fell in love with her human side. Tanaka-san's favourite character from the series (Lula aside) is Rachel, whose fashionable style and attitude she adores. the English language Red Garden dub, the role of Lula is played by
trained stage actress and ADV voice actor, Shelley Calene-Black.
With a strong vocal range and undeniable beauty, Calene-Black is one of the
more popular VAs working in the industry today. The characters Calene-Black
portrays vary from reserved adults to enthusiastic youngsters, though she
is probably best known for the following roles: Mireille Bouquet from Noir,
Awayuki Mayune from Pretear, Yaone from Gensou Maden Saiyuki,
Noyamano Mikan from Air Gear, Marquise de Pompadour from Le Chevalier
D'Eon and Cleao from Sorcerous Stabber Orphen.
