Kitajima is the second-in-command of Earth-born dragon research for the ISDA's
D-Project (under the guidance of Nozaki Kasuga). Nineteen years ago, she was a member of the team that discovered
the first dragon egg on the ocean floor near New Ogasawara. Since this time
she has devoted her life to the study of dragons. Kitajima seeks to research
original dragons (those born away from Earth) in order to gain international
recognition for both herself and her scientific pursuits.
While investigating the shuttle accident that killed Kamishina Jin's family, Kitajima discovered the original dragon she dubbed "Atrum". After touching the injured creature, it disappeared from sight, leaving Kitajima obsessed with finding another original for her research. Subsequent to learning of Toa's presence at the beginning of the series, Kitajima seeks to capture her in order to continue her study of original dragons.
Kitajima Yuuri is portrayed by Asano Mayumi (Japanese) and Stephanie Young (English).
